Fall 2021 Preview – Popular Culture and Sports
Turning to the world of popular culture and sports, a blues legend is the subject of an October book: King of the Blues: The Rise and Reign of B. B. King by Daniel de Visé. The next month, a book looks at food as part of popular culture, in Mayukh Sen’s Taste Makers: Seven Immigrant Women Who Revolutionized Food in America.
In December, Robert Gottlieb, the winner of BIO’s 2014 Editorial Excellence Award, is releasing Garbo: Her Life, Her Films. Also out that month is Citizen Cash: The Political Life and Times of Johnny Cash by Michael Stewart Foley.
The most notable sports book of the season is out in February: Coach K: The Rise and Reign of Mike Krzyzewski by Ian O’Connor, a look at the winningest coach in college basketball history.
